The International Space Station launched 15 years ago from a Russian proton rocket and has been an instrumental part of space study and exploration. The station has a gym so that astronauts bones and muscles will not deteriorate, this along with a healthy diet will keep them strong and fit against the affects of space.

It travels at speeds close to 5 miles per second. It's size is that of a football field, end zone to end zone. It has eight miles of wire that connects all of it's components, with fifty two computers controlling the station. The station has only had 204 individuals since it's launch in 1998.

  1. I just watched the movie "Gravity", so this added some fun facts to my knowledge. I also recently heard (and have yet to "google"), but they are currently recruiting people for a one-way mission to Mars. I repeat - One way.
